1969 Mach 1 351W Bored .60 Over
Hey everyone, I have a 1969 Mach 1 and one of the freeze plugs popped out on me 2 years ago. My neighbor helped me pull the engine out last August, when I removed the heads I found that one of the valves had broken off and scorched the inside of cylinder. Well, I finally took the engine into the machine shop last month and found out that the engine had already been bored .30 over. The shop called me back and said they had to have it bored .60 over. Now is this good for a 351W, I know this is pretty much as far as it can go on being bored but would it be wise to put sleeves in it? It is like $1500 extra if I go that route. I am certainly not going to hot rod or race my Mustang in any way, just take it out for a cruise every now and then.
So what do you guys think, is it fine to leave it like it is or should go the extra step and have sleeves put in?

for $1500 i think you could get yourself a new 351W that doesn't have any problems on it used. These motors rarely rn higher than $1K around here at least.
Especially if its just a cruiser, not a hot rod.

I would probably go for the new block, except I am trying to keep the car original. Since the 351W is still the original motor to the car I want to try and save it the best I can.
