1968 Mustang Engine Swap

A friend of mine is taking the front suspension and engine (390) out of one 68 Mustang and putting it in another (originally a 289) Do you know if the 390 will fit directly in, or will it require new shock towers? If he doesn't swap the 390 in, he is considering swapping a 428. Same question with this engine. Are there any other modifications? I know that the 390 and the 428 were used in 68 but I do not know if it is a direct fit with new engine mounts. Thanks.

A 390 or 428 will fit in a 67-68 Mustang, just need different motor mounts. It's a tight fit though. If it's a stock 390, the performance isn't all that great, and it's a lot of added weight.

They are a direct fit, you just need to swap frame mounts I believe.
