1967 Inspection Plate

New to the network! Love what I am seeing thus far. I have a 67 fastback 289 C4. Just completed a suspension rebuild and noticed the inspection plate was missing. Was not on the car when I bought so I have no idea how long it has been missing. A very cheap replacement. Do I need to clean the flex plate? If so, what should I clean it with and should I be looking for any damage? Once cleaned if necessary do I need to grease it? If so what kind. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

The inspection plate/lower flywheel cover needs to be on to prevent rocks and debris from getting into the bellhousing and causing damage to the flywheel or worse. It is common for the flywheel to be surface rusted because they were installed bare steel. You could easily fab up a plate and install it with a couple of bolts.
