Hi, saw this site and decided to register. I don't have my classic cars yet, but will come summer of 2006 after i graduate from college. I plan on getting a 1970 mustang convertible and putting a 351 cleveland with mild buildup in it and a 1969 mustang mach 1 for myself. The reason for the two cars is that my parents have helped me with school more than I ever could ask for and I want to repay my dad in a way for all that he has done for me. So, I've got about 4 years from now to find and restore the car for him at his retirement party because when we talk about the old days, he always talks about the power and rpm range his 351 cleveland had.

later

Hi! I'll beguin of by telling everyone that Im drooling over your beatuiful Mustangs!!!

My name is Niklas and I come from a small town, Ystad, in the sothern tip of Sweden. Im 22 (soon to be 23) years old and at the moment im reading to become a civil engineer at a technical uiversity in Karlskrona. Obviously one of my many intrests are Mustangs.
Before:
Ill try to keep this short so I dont bore you all to death... My father and I have a 1966 coupe that we are doing a "fixer upper" on. It has had 15, I repeat... 15!!! owners before us, and began life as one of your export cars back in 66. When we bought it nothing electrical worked, brakes were crap and a bearing in the rear axel was cracked. The door handels were changed to Volvo 240 handles (I had to go through therapy because of that.. ), the 289 had been swaped for the slightly larger 302 from 68 and so was the rear axel (prob from the same car as the engine). Both rear frame rails and the under sides of both doors were eaten by "rust worm"...

Today:
So far we have fixer the electrical, the doors and handles, rear frame rails, rear axel and brakes. We even made and manufactured our own front power disc brake setup with the help of a wrecked volvo 240 and a ford escort. Still a few buggs in the system but works great!! The 302 also managed to get a face lift.

The future:
My vision of the stang is a virtually "stock" looking car from the outside but a beast underneath... born and built to eat rubber and pavement (with a litle RICE and BMW on the side ). With a massaged 302 (Edelbrock RPM concept, Paxton/Eaton SC, etc.), GOOD handling, a strong "two-stripe-in the pvement" rear axel and modern tires and wheels.

Unfortionately we (especially I) live on a tight budget (since I live in a flat far away from "home", pay rent, a student with litle money to spend on "Mustang-items", and it all makes this Mustang vision a very slow moving one...
BUT, I cracked the idea of searching for "sponsors" for the build. But since I have never tried it before I was wondering if any of you members have tried it, have any ideas I would greatly hear them!! :worship: :worship:

Good bye for now!!

Hi again! Did I mention we had "rust worm".. .. hope these dont give you nightmares.. that what was left of the left rear frame rail.

And thats the under carrage as it is today.

And thats our front braking system today. Volvo 10" ventilated discs with 4 piston callipers (refernished and painted by me ) Everything exept the callipers and discs are home mabe, bolts center peice, spacing etc. Not 100% perfect yet. Total cost, in the $150-$200 region wich isnt to bad.
Anyway I am very proud over our job!!

Thanks for looking!!

Hi Niklas and welcome. You should be very proud of the work you have done and all that you have accomplished living outside of the US where parts for yoru car are far more plentiful and cheaper to ship. Don't be concerned with being Mustang poor at the momment, focus on your studies and one day you'll probably be able to afford several Mustangs or at the least build yourtotal dream car. Right now you have saved this one from the grave and so even if it takes 10 years to finish you'll always be able to hold your head up high.

It took me 16 years to get the car I wanted since I was 16, so you are already way ahead of the head game at 23 my friend.

Good Luck!
