An 06 GT 5-Spd in a 66 289

Does anyone know if a 2006 Mustang GT 5-Spd (Manual) will fit in a 66 Mustang with a 289, and currently has a 4-speed? I know there are T-5 conversion kits out there, and was wondering if these kits, or a different kit, would allow this to install without having to fab something up (hopefuly someone has already done this). Does anyone know the exact type of transmission in an 06 GT? T-5, T-56? Thanks for the help! Steve

people have put the 4.6 32V with T56 in the 66 body before...i think that did require modifications to the shock towers..maybe the 3v would fit better since its not as wide.

the 06gt uses the TR3650 i think.

i think he meant just the transmission, and not the 3v motor itself.

ive seen T5s in early stangs, i cant recall if wat mods were neccasary, if any...

and the T5 is only in 05+ V6s i beleive...

Where there is a will there is a way ! my big bro put a 392 hemi in a 54 Ford but first tried it in a Beatle in the trunk(front end ) and flattened it . Too heavy , so he then put a 350 in his MGB and it worked sweet I was like 12 then.

Sorry but it's not going to happen. VERY different and there would be great expense and engineering to even think about making it work. You'd be better off using a T-5 from a Fox Mustang

Thanks for coments! Since I originally created this post, I have found out that the T5 is the way to go, (or even a T56 with a little cutting of the floor). The 06 transmission is a Tremec (I can't remember the model #, a 3650 or something like that) and it is made to bolt up to a modular motor like the 3V.

"Where there is a will, there is a way", but I will have to wait and hear the strories of other Mustangers accomplishing this setup.
