Ford Hit With Class-Action Suit Over Shelby GT350 Overheating
Class-Action Lawsuit Alleges Ford Falsely Promoted “Track-Ready” Capabilities of the GT350
Ford Motor Co. has been hit with an interesting complaint concerning the Shelby Mustang GT350.
Then again, calling a class-action lawsuit involving a car company’s crown jewel “interesting” probably doesn’t really capture the true magnitude of the issue.
Yep, apparently, the beloved Shelby GT350 isn’t all that beloved by some. According to CarScoops, several owners of the so-called more “track-ready” Mustang are suing Ford. Why? They claim that the GT350 really isn’t that “track-ready” after all.
More specifically, the suit claims that the car’s transmission and rear differential is prone to overheating. That can supposedly cause the GT350 to go into “Limp Mode,” where it suddenly loses power and “rapidly decelerates.”

Steve Berman is a managing partner for one of the law firms involved in the suit. He says his clients believe Ford mislead consumers when marketing the Shelby GT350.
“We believe that Ford induced purchasers with its ‘track-ready’ marketing, when in fact it knew that this defect would ultimately bar these Mustangs,” says Berman.
The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, seeks to have Ford reimburse the Shelby GT350 owners for the full purchase price. The law firms representing the plaintiffs are also asking Ford to pay punitive damages and the decline in the vehicle’s value.
The CarScoops report doesn’t specify exactly how many GT350 owners are represented in the lawsuit.
Ford has yet to issue an official response to the suit.
