Fisker-Galpin Rocket is a Coach-Built Mustang on Steroids

By -

Drop-dead gorgeous looks, insane speed, and luxury car detailing. The Fisker-Galpin Rocket Mustang has it all.

Originally introduced way back in 2014 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Fisker-Galpin Rocket looks every bit as futuristic today as it did back then. And even as the great horsepower wars of this generation rage on, the Galpin Auto Sports/Henrik Fisker collab’s 725 horsepower is still pretty darn stout too. This was (and is) many people’s idea of the “ultimate” Mustang, so it’s no surprise that YouTuber Salomondrin was more than a little excited to get his hands on one of only two prototype Rockets built.

The car’s incredible looks come courtesy of, naturally, Henrik Fisker, a legendary name in the world of automotive design. Aside from his own car company’s creations, Fisker is the father of the Aston Martin DB9, Vantage, and BMW Z8. And he just happens to be pals with Beau Boeckmann, the CEO of Galpin. Which, of course, has been the number one Ford dealer in the world for roughly 29 years and running. Galpin has also done several one-offs and customs in the past. So this pairing just seems like a match made in heaven. And it is.

Our host spotted this very prototype sitting on Rodeo Drive during an annual Father’s Day meetup a couple of years ago. And immediately put a deposit down on one. But red tape caused years of delays, and so far the company has only delivered two Fisker-Galpin Rocket Mustangs. So the question is, what does our very lucky host think of it?

Well, for starters, he points out that the car only retains the stock Mustang doors and roof. The remaining custom lines are quite simply amazing, sporting goodies like an integrated spoiler and loads of carbon fiber. Galpin also wrapped every piece of interior plastic in fine Italian leather or replaced it with carbon. And the 2.9-liter Whipple blower whine is addictive, obviously.

Clearly, the Fisker-Galpin Rocket isn’t just another tuner Mustang. It’s essentially an ultra-luxury, ultra-performance, highly-stylized machine that looks like it could have been built at a factory. And now they’re finally rolling out to the public. Which means the Rocket might just be the best Mustang you can buy (for now)!
