Wheel Hop Question
Wheel Hop Question
I need to remove 90% of the wheel hop 100% would be nice, but I don't know if that is posable. Anyways my question is what can be installed to help remove wheel hop. Would LCA's do the trick, any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks
I installed the Roush wheel hop kit and LCA's. That completely removed all my wheel hop. Forewarning though, the car will be very mechanical feeling and noisy. So just be prepared for that.
the mechanical feeling and the noisy is not big deal to me. I just want the hop gone. Thank you I will look in to them parts. do you by chance have the part numbers.
The axle side rear upper control arm bushing is another area to focus on as well. I recently watched a video (camera aimed at the upper axle bushing) of an S-197 going down the track and even with LCAs and relocators that bushing caused issues. Its also very failure prone when driven in anger.
There are urethane replacements but the consensus seems to be they subject he rear end to much bind if your using something other than heim type joint and even then its probably better to replace it with a spherical bushing like Steedas. As with any sort of mod expect increased NVH.

I find that it depends. Sometimes when I really get on it my car with cut off (tc/sc kicking it) and totally bog and therefore no wheelhop. Other times it won't kick in and I will get wheelhop like a mother****er, sounding like my rear wheels are going to end up in my trunk. And lastly I sometimes get a nice chirp and I'm goneeeee
Did you get any relo brackets for the lcas? And how was the install. I think my next upgrades are going to be some suspension components.
Yep, it can be an issue with a live rear axle even for the best of us. Watch the scene in 'Bullitt' when McQueen overshoots the right turn, throws it in reverse, and then takes off. Plenty of hop showing.
My '11 Brembo GT hopped horribly when new. Added dual adjustable LCA's from Maximum Motorsports with spherical steel bushings to prevent binding, but the steel bushings transmit a ton of mechanical noise into the cabin and they could not be adjusted enough to get my driveshaft pinion angle into the recommended -1 to -1.5 degree range (could only get it down to -2 degrees). Most of the hop was eliminated, but still had some.
Added the Steeda upper control arm. Dual adjustable with the hard durometer bushings (not steel) and also did their axle side bushing for the control arm. Was able to get the pinion angle into the sweet spot and all the wheel hop is completely gone in 100% of driving, racing, and thrashing scenarios! Very happy with my car now!
I'll probably replace my LCA's with a set with hard durometer bushings instead of steel to quiet down the NVH next.

12.18? Slow? Back in the day, you were lucky to get into the 13's on street tires and pump gas. I managed it (but just barely at 13.98) at OCIR in a 65 mustang built for road racing, and it was the last time I went down the quarter mile (more curiosity than anything else).

Now I had BMR previously. That was noisy!
