Possibly. The Boss suspension is a bit harsh for an optional GT package. I'd say they'll split the difference in the front, and the rear will be IRS so apples to oranges. I highly doubt the high strung Boss motor will become the next GT engine. It's not all about the numbers, but also the engine's character. Some of the tech might live on, but the character will remain Boss exclusive. I'd venture that we won't see another Boss model for at least 15-20 years.

To say the Boss 302 was a slow seller is simply absurd. Ford severly limited the sales by allocating Boss 302s to the dealers. If slow sales was the reason the bean counters at Ford dropped the Boss 302, they have to take the blame for allowing a limited number to be built each year. Honestly, how can a car sell well if dealers only are allowed to sell just one. Ford should allow all dealers to purchase as many Boss 302 as they want for the 2014 model year and then we would see how many would be sold, bur first they must correct their wrong and bring back the Boss for at least one more year.

Think of it this way, just a few years ago when things were better, ford built and sold 8000 +/- bullitts, at a time when ford was selling 130,000 mustangs per year.
Now, mustang sales are half that, and slowly rebounding. So builing 4000 boss 302 s when sales are at 70,000 makes sense. Everything got cut in half, including special edition models.

As others have said, the Boss 302 was only scheduled for a two year production run from the start. Ford isn't going to allow the Mustang hype to die down so I think it is pretty safe to assume a Boss 351 will follow at some point. Lots of theories abound but we will have to stay tuned to see when Ford decides to bring the next gen Boss back.

There won't be another Boss 351. Neither a de-supercharged GT500 engine nor a stroked Coyote. It's just not going to happen with the way things are headed with CAFE. I think the Boss nameplate (as a trim level) is retired for good. I'd say if not for good, for 15-20 years. We will probably still see Boss parts from FRPP for years, but not a Boss model.

Any future SE's will be limited due to CAFE but Ford has shown a willingness to produce SE models and they will continue to do so. The Boss 302 has been a hit for Ford in the press and in the marketplace so chances are pretty good that Ford won't wait 15 years to bring out the next Boss version. Could Ford make another Boss 302? Sure. Will it be in '14? No. Beyond that, everything is conjecture and a limited production Boss 351 is just as viable as a Mach 1 in that realm. Ford knows how to manage CAFE and will do so with more cars like the C-Max and various Hybrid or electric cars. Ford could always leverage the Boss name and not tie it to a prior production model. Maybe we should start a thread about what we could call the next Boss?
I didn't say Ford wouldn't produce another SE. I said I don't believe Ford will make another Boss any time soon. It's a storied nameplate that should not be whored out like Shelby has been. And with the exception of the 6.2 in the F-150s, I can pretty much guarantee you that Ford (and pretty much ALL manufacturers) is no longer interested in investing in large displacement engines. That rules out a Boss 351 model and as the Cobra Jet suggests, we will probably see the final demise of the modular based V8 in the GT500. The 5.8 662hp GT500 is a mighty send-off for that 20+ year run of the modular V8. The Coyote is the basis of the next generation of small block Ford V8, but I just do not see if being released in anything bigger than a 302. Would I love a Boss 351? Of course I would. But now I'm starting to sound like the whiny OP begging for a 2014 Boss - just like that is never going to happen, I can almost assure you there won't be a Boss 351 version of the S550 car. If there is, we can revisit this thread and I will eat my words. Yes, it is conjecture, but if you actually take a look at the big picture and the direction that Mulally is taking the company, it just isn't in the cards.
