If one considers 30-40 years between special editions as the proper amount of time and you include the various tuner cars (Roush, Saleen, et al) then I suppose the market is saturated.
This seems to be a common complaint about Mustang, despite Bugatti introducing the "emperors new clothes" edition every other month, along with Lamborghini and Porsche doing the same and getting a pass on it.

I never thought the Mach 1 was all that special. My best friend had a '69 Mach one back in the day. Nothing special about it IMHO, especially compared to the XR-7. It was just a sportier fancier Mustang, nothing stood out really when compared to a Boss or SCJ.

I love mustangs and always have. My grandfather and father were both mustang owners. I was always under the impression the Mach was just the replacement for the gt name in the late 60s or early 70s. It had some neat graphics on it bit it seemed like most cars of that era had some type graphic to punch up their looks.

Personally I don't consider tuner cars as being other than that and how somebody lumps a tuner car in with the factory engineered stuff baffles me.
Perhaps Ford should be more discerning with whom they let use their car as the basis for derivative performance models (as in nobody)?

That's it, that's all.
The rest are aftermarket tuners.

Shelby American has already signed a contract with Ford to continue building/creating aftermarket vehicles with Ford's blessing. If you honestly think they're not going to use Shelby's name to help sell Ford's halo car, you're nuts. The GT500 will be back.

Aren't solid axles better for straight line?
On one hand, It's not titled a Ford...
On the other hand, Everyone knows its another variant of a Mustang.
More times than not, If you say I drive a Saleen, Roush, or Shelby Mustang, people know what you're talking about. So to the world, it's another option of mustangs.
Ford has to also know this.
Now I do like all the options... but sometimes it is just a LOT!

If the next Mustang is indeed a bit smaller externally while offering nearly the same interior volume as the current car, an IRS would definitely be in order in the rear since it allows some extra space.
An IRS isn't just about handling or a comfortable ride, despite its added complexity, an IRS also packages better than an SRA.
Also if the current Camaro is any indication as well as past Cobras, the IRS doesn't seem to be much of an impediment until a car is into single digit quarter mile times.
