I decided to spray paint my clear LED taillights red. I got the idea last night from watching someone else do it on Youtube. They said you could get transparent red from Michael's Arts and Crafts (it is Stained Glass spray paint). So, I printed out a coupon for Hobby Lobby, thinking it would have it, too. No luck. Then, I drove to Home Depot, no luck. Then, I went to Michael's. They no longer carry it. So, I come back home. I look online and see some people have used Testors Candy Apple Red for Model cars. I found it at Hobby Lobby after going back. Then, I get the car prepped for the painting. This is where things go wrong.
I start spraying...
One of the panic attacks happened when I forgot to mask off the back up light (they have to be clear by law)...I had no paint thinner/remover, so I had to drive in my dad's car to my apartment to get some...then the clear coat I got started sputtering and made them look horrible...so I had to use the paint thinner to remove the red....start over....then...after I got them painted...I realized, the red paint (model paint) probably won't be durable for winters here in Colorado...so over dinner I had been stewing over the issue....then I decided to go to Home Depot and get the clear. So now I'm back and I'll wait til tomorrow to do it.

I like the red, too. From the beginning, I wanted to have LEDs with my Mustang, but no one made them cheap enough in red. I'll take more pics tomorrow once I clearcoat them.

Lesson learned.
Well, after all of my attempts to paint my clear LED lights red yesterday. The paint crazed and bubbled on the clear coat I applied this morning. Luckily, I had the stock taillights in my parents' basement. So I had to go buy 6 new reg bulbs for the stock taillights and I put them back on. Money lost, frustration. Defeated. But, I am happy to have a clean looking rear end of the car again.
