Radio display scratches removal

How do you remove fine scratches from your plastic radio display cover?

I left my display alone for as long as I could knowing that it will most likely scratch very easily...and sure enough.

It's only notcieable in direct sunlight, but it's a little annoying. I aslo noticed the gauge cluster has them.

I am also wondering what people have done to get rid of these...

Edit: To wipe the display clean I used an oakley bag with sunglass cleaner, thinking there would be no way in hell it would scratch it. Apparently I should have grabbed my neighbours chinchilla...what did Ford make this plastic out of???

My display got scratched up by dealer I took the display out and put a tinted security screen saver on no more scratches can't see display if looking from side but in normal driving position its fine.I think a clear screen saver will work plus they are hard to scratch.

You took the display out? Are you referring to the radio display or the Nav screen? Also, with it being scratched already, won't you see those scratches thru the screen saver once you put it on?

Where does one find this screen saver? Does it need to be cut to fit? Or does Ford make specific ones for our cars? The biggest screen protector i've been able to find was 3" x 5" which isn't long enough to cover the whole display...argh.

And thanks SteelTownStang, I will have to give that PlastX a try. Did you use it specifically on the radio display? It's not too abrasive?

I was told it cannot be purchased separately from the whole audio module it is part of.

Question Shaker 500 Radio Display

Do you have scratches on your radio display? I would like to know how many of us there are and what you have done to remove these terrible looking scratches. Thanks.

Barry,

I've just left my scratched radio display alone for the time being, until a solid solution comes up. The one delicate wipe that it received did enough damage.

Finally, got to clean car after nasty snow/ice incident. Mistakenly wiped radio display with fast food napkin and now have scratches. Used soft cloth everywhere else. Go figure. Only had car 3 months. Read a lot about Novus Plastic Polish. Has anybody tried this yet. Thanks.

I had scratches on mine from when the dealer removed the film, i taped off the whole area around display with masking tape, used a dremel tool with polishing tip and dremel compound on low setting to remove all scratches, it will look cloudy as if it is ruined, but then buff with mequires scratchx by hand with eye glass lens cloth, then with mequires plastx, then I got an Ipad screen protector(zagg) from target and cut it to fit, now it looks good as new and is protected from future scratches, be sure to follow the zagg instructions strep by step or you will have a mess on your hands.
