Is EcoBoost vs GT Rev Battle a Fair Fight?

One Is Raspy and Sharp, the Other Sounds Like It’s Ripping Through Space

EcoBoost Mustangs have had a tough birth. Their lack of cylinders causes many to consider them not a “true Mustang.” But they have made up for it by being unexpectedly powerful. Sound wise, they’ve even won us over, with a deep 4-cylinder rumble. Sitting alongside the EcoBoost is the GT, which has a way of getting under your skin. So how do they compare in the EcoBoost vs GT rev battle video above?

If you are thinking this comparison is a bit absurd, you’re quite right. Coyote power is far more charismatic, with the V8 producing some truly epic noises. The EcoBoost just doesn’t, but that’s really okay. It’s an unfair comparison to start with, because the EcoBoost was never pretending to be a GT. Badges depicting 5.0 are worn proudly for a reason.

To be fair, the EcoBoost is no slouch, and still a very good Mustang. The Performance Pack on the EcoBoost transforms it into a competent track car, as well. There’s always the elephant in the room of what the experience would be like with the added joy of a Coyote motor, though. Conceding to the GT is more than just a formality in this case; it’s just polite to let the EcoBoost’s better, older brother take the win.
