Mustang First Car Extraterrestrial Life Will See

The “Golden Record” Carried on the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 Space Probes Carries an Image of a Ford Mustang for Extraterrestrial Life to See
Back in 1977, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 space craft were launched by NASA. Aboard each of these deep-space probes is an item called the “Golden Record.” In the rare instance that one or both of the Voyager probes comes across intelligent life, the Golden Record contains audio samples of earth and human speech. It also contains 116 images. One of those images is of a bright red Mustang, picked out specifically for our extraterrestrial friends.

Isn’t it an awesome badge of honor to have the Mustang be the first automobile aliens get an impression of? Beckoning red paint with a black vinyl top sure makes the Mustang stand out from the other gaggle of cars. As you can see in the photo above, a sea of grey and boring cars surrounds what appears to be a 289 V8 model. It seems to be crossing a bridge in India, of all places.
Voyager is nearly 13 billion miles away from earth now, heading towards the Ophiuchus constellation at over 10 miles per second. No word on when aliens might discover the probe, though. Either way, they’ll learn a thing or two about Mustang enthusiasm when (if) they do. Bon voyage!
