One of the interesting things about today’s car concepts is that they usually don’t deviate too far from the production models.

That hasn’t always been the case. If you’ll recall, it wasn’t too long ago when the future vehicle ideas showcased at auto shows were a whole lot hotter than the actual models that rolled into the dealerships.

Take, for example, this Mustang GT Convertible unveiled at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show. The brainchild of the former legendary Ford designer, J Mays, the topless Mustang helped usher in an entirely new era for the Ford pony car, as highlighted by Car Buzz.

Now, there’s a chance to recapture the spirit of that Ford concept, by buying it outright. It certainly won’t come cheap, though. Exotic Classics in New York is selling the supercharged 400-horsepower Mustang concept for a whopping $350,000.

Then again, you kind of expect to pay a lot for any one-off, especially if it’s a Mustang.
