Not only can you see the cars, but the world’s first Carbon Fiber Shelby GT500CR prototype will be available for purchase at the event.

A couple of months ago Classic Recreations unveiled the stunning Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra Diamond Edition at Monterey Car Week. Now, they are about to deliver another carbon fiber treat at Velocity Invitational 2023. Here they will be presenting several 1967 Carbon Fiber Shelby GT500CR Mustangs, including the world’s first Carbon Fiber GT500CR. And you will be able to more than just see this incredible car, you will be able to purchase it as well.

“It is a distinct honor to share these one-of-a-kind supercars with the enthusiasts, racing fans, and serious collectors attending Velocity Invitational. Classic Recreations painstakingly recreates legendary muscle cars that advance the legacy and vision of one of the world’s greatest car builders, Carrol Shelby,” said Jeff Stone, CEO at Classic Recreations. “The cars displayed at Velocity Invitational are works of art on four wheels, outstanding examples of American Manufacturing, and licensed Shelby GT500s listed in the Shelby Registry. We continue to honor Carroll Shelby’s remarkable heritage and believe he’d be proud of the legacy we continue to build in his home state of Texas.”

Carbon Fiber Shelby GT500CR Mustang

The Carbon Fiber Shelby GT500CR Mustang not only looks incredible, but it has the performance to back it up. Thanks to a supercharged 5.0L Coyote V-8 engine the car produces more than 800 horsepower. That is enough power to get it to 60 mph in about 3.1 seconds.

Top speed is claimed to be over 190 mph. Slowing this beast down is the 6-piston front/4-piston rear Wilwood braking system. To ensure this car can handle the curves as easily as the straights is a set of adjustable coilovers. On the inside you get a custom Carroll Shelby Heritage interior package that includes plenty of Alcantara and racing harnesses. Oh, and we almost forgot. The body is made from aerospace-grade, autoclave-cured, ultra-light carbon fiber.

Getting One

Classic Recreations is releasing allocation assignments for its Carbon Fiber Shelby GT500 models during the Velocity Invitational event. The event will take place at Sonoma Raceway on November 10 – 12, 2023.

To get your tickets click HERE. And bring your wallet. The Carbon Fiber Shelby GT500CR 545 starts at $475,000. And that is for a ‘mere’ 545 horsepower car. The 800 horsepower beast will certainly be more than that.

Better Than an Original?

An original 1967 Shelby GT500 in top condition will set you back about $300K. The Carbon Fiber Shelby GT500CR will cost you nearly double. But the original car made 360 horsepower from its 428-cid V-8. So, the new car makes nearly double the power. Plus, the braking and handling will be far superior in the new car.

From a performance perspective the new car is simply better than the original in every way. Of course, if you value history and provenance above outright speed, then you are going to want an original GT500. The real beauty in all this is that we have a choice like this. Well, at least the wealthy have a choice like this.
