Mustang Falls Victim to Catastrophic Dyno Failure

A dyno can be a great tool. It helps accurately tune and relay information in real-time from a car that’s inherently moving, yet magically standing still. It allows tuners to modify their settings on the fly without having to constantly take the car apart or take it back to the shop.

That said, when you have a dyno in the middle of a parking lot that looks to be held up with a few 2x4s, you might want to reconsider putting your GT500 Mustang on it and giving it the full beans.

As you can see in the video below, this is about as catastrophic as you can get without adding napalm into the mix. What appears to happen is that when the driver throttles the car up, the dyno short-circuits and essentially tears itself to pieces, thus destroying not only the dyno, but also part of the car as well. As you can see, that back wheel doesn’t look like it’s still attached to the car.

Man, I don’t know who to be more upset with? The guys operating this makeshift “service” center, or the idiot driver who trusted this dyno in the first place?
