Twin-Turbo Fox Body Mustang

Owner of this twin-turbo Fox Body Mustang enjoys a bit of redemption following a terrible loss.

Aside from having our cars stolen, one of the biggest fears of any automotive enthusiast is that someone will run into their beloved vehicles, causing minor or in some cases, catastrophic damage to it. In many cases, these types of wrecks result in sending our vehicles to the scrap yard, oftentimes watching months or years of hard work go straight down the drain. Thankfully, for the owner of this twin-turbo Fox Body Mustang, that wasn’t entirely the case after a drunk driver smashed into it on the owner’s actual birthday.

YouTuber GearHead704 caught up with the owner of the twin-turbo Fox Body Mustang – Brian – recently and got the scoop on what happened, as well as what has transpired since. When Brian’s friend Joe was leaving a parking lot in his car sitting at a stop sign, the drunk driver came up swerving behind him and smashed into the back of pony car. Admittedly in shock, it took Joe a solid 15 minutes to calm down and realize what had just taken place.

Joe was obviously dreading having to deliver the news that Brian’s dream car – which he had worked on for years to that point – was ruined, but given the fact that this happened at Mustang Week, there was quite a bit of video footage taken by onlookers that was hitting social media right then and there. Thus, he delivered the awful news to his buddy on his birthday, which is about as much fun as one might imagine.

Luckily, a number of vendors and other folks from the Mustang community knew what happened and stepped in to help Brian, starting with locating a suitable replacement car that was just sitting around. From there, Brian simply used the engine from his old car, which is a 347 cubic-inch Dark block-based stroker with a pair of turbos, versus the old car’s single turbo setup. He even painted the car himself – the first time he has done such a thing – but the results quite simply speak for themselves.

This particular story has a happy ending, and Brian wound up with an even cooler Fox Body than he previously had. And if that isn’t an inspirational type of story for anyone who loses their beloved ride to a careless driver, well, we don’t know what is.
