Mustang Blocks Busy Florida Bridge to Do Donuts
Here’s a good example of what not to do the next time you want to have a little fun in your Mustang.
When you drive a car as legendary as the Mustang, you often find yourself faced with various urges. Like the urge to just stab the go pedal when the light turns green. Or rev it up in the midst of rush hour traffic. Or, apparently, block traffic on a busy Fort Lauderdale bridge while you conjure up some smoky donuts. At least, that’s what one Mustang driver did on the busy Southeast 17th Street bridge recently.
This video, which shows the entire incident, was shot by someone nearby and obtained by UPI News. It all kicks off as we watch a red Mustang doing some donuts while a group of people film the whole thing on their cell phones. By the looks of things, many of the cars behind him are both domestic and import performance rides, so we’re guessing they’re all in the same group.
The show goes on for a minute or so before the Mustang driver decides to move on. And then the group of hooligans heads off. But as you might imagine, this little impromptu fun session didn’t exactly go over well with local law enforcement. Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Rick Maglione told Local 10 News that the Mustang driver engaged in “completely unlawful behavior.”
The group was gone by the time police got there. But they believe the same Mustang driver was later cited for reckless driving. And if they can prove it was the same guy, he could also face additional charges. “If we can put that individual behind the wheel, we will still prosecute that individual to the full extent of the law,” Maglione said.
So next time you get the bright idea to block traffic in the name of a little hooning, you might want to think twice after seeing this one. The law (and a portion of the fun-hating public) don’t exactly see things the same way.
