Dealers Aiming for Big Profits on New Shelby GT350
Thinking about that new Shelby GT350, huh? Well, hopefully you’ve saved up a lot of cash.
According to Yahoo Autos, there have been reports of some dealers selling the 526-horsepower muscle car way over the MSRP. Take for example, Van Bortel Ford in East Rochester, New York, who has a 2015 GT350 with a Tech Package listed for $149,500.
Yup, almost $150K.
That’s nearly double the suggested $61,000 MSRP for the track-focused GT350R and nearly three times the suggested MSRP for the base GT350, which Ford has priced at $48,000, prior to that wild dealer markup.
Apparently, to justify the price, the New York dealer is using the fact that Ford only built 137 of the Shelby GT350s for the 2015 model year. But there have also been reports of dealers trying to sell 2016 GT350s for up to $100K.
