Eleanor-Inspired Mustang is a totally different take on the movie car.

Now here’s a beauty. Makes you rethink all those accolades we dish out to some of today’s cars, right?

Don’t get us wrong: the current generation Mustang is an impressive piece of machinery. It’s sure to retain its appeal years down the road. And the current, track-oriented Shelby GT350 has already pretty much sealed its place in the history books.

But when you see a vehicle like this 1967 Shelby GT500, it puts a different spin on the idea of a classic. This one occupies a space all its own in the world of custom vintage Mustangs, as detailed in a Mustang 360 report.

Les Stuart, who owns the ’67 Shelby (dubbed the “Pit Viper”), says it grew out of a desire to create his own take on the Eleanor Mustang, featured in the movie Gone in 60 Seconds.

Instead of going with a Silver paint scheme with a Black stripe, Stuart has opted to for Black paint with a Silver stripe. Other unique features to his car include a modified front grille from a 2005 Mustang, a cleaner looking rear bumper, and a side-exit exhaust system. The Pit Viper has also been lowered, giving the car a meaner stance.

The interior has been finished with black and gray leather-wrapped ProCar Elite seats with 3-point harnesses, a Moto-Lita Steering wheel and a custom dash.

Under the hood, the Pit Viper is equipped with a 2014 Smeding Performance-built 427 cubic inch V8 built on a 351 Dart block that cranks out 630 horsepower to the rear wheels.
