With more mods, owner looks to build on best run of 9.29 at 147 mph.

Sometimes, a custom Mustang’s unique appeal isn’t always apparent at first glance. Some require a closer look than others. Like this 1999 GT, which is a “Clark Kent” of sorts. In this case, its disguise is a stock-looking exterior. Though this Mustang’s aggressive stance (including those beefy rear slicks) is a pretty good indication that the Mustang has something up its sleeve.

And that it does, as detailed in a Mustang 360 report. The car, owned by David Geisler, is a monstrous, 760-hp dragster with a best run of 9.29 at 147 mph.

It’s packed with a number of mods, including a 76mm Precision turbocharger, an upgraded chassis, and TRZ control arms, to name a few.

Interesting enough, the Mustang started out as a basic track project. “It was supposed to be a fun driver with basic performance mods to have some extra fun at the track,” says Geisler.

But it soon evolved into a project with an entirely different mission, from a nitrous-powered Mustang to a turbocharged machine. And it’s still evolving. According to Mustang 360, Geisler is now gearing up to switch the car’s stock ECU for a Holley Dominator EFI and a new motor. We’ll likely be hearing a lot more from this ’99 Mustang down the road.
