2015 S550 Ford Mustang Vs. 2014 S197: Side-by-Side Comparison

The new 2015 Mustang, and for that matter the outgoing 2014, look a lot different when they’re parked next to each other. That’s exactly what happened at a recent Cars & Coffee event in Irvine, California. Ford had a new S550 on display and several S197 owners, two GTs and one Shelby GT500 Super Snake, got to park next to the new car for some direct comparisons. Needless to say, it’s a perspective I’d yet to see and it offers some insight into the new car.

For one, the S550 looks big, but Ford engineers insist it’s going to be lighter. If so, that means a wider track for better handling and more interior room: A bonus! As for the styling, well, the S197 has the throwback look down to a T and the S550 seems to draw from the past with futuristic touches as well.
