Essentially a brand new car with loads of modern upgrades, this Mustang Eleanor Tribute Edition is as good as it gets.

In the realm of movie cars, few are as famous as the classic Ford Mustang from Gone in 60 Seconds, a car affectionately known as “Eleanor.” Most enthusiasts know exactly what that name means, and it’s quite simply one of the more attractive pony cars on the planet. So it’s no surprise that many have replicated its look, though only two shops are actually licensed to do so. This 1967 Ford Mustang Eleanor Tribute Edition came from one of them, and it raked in a whopping $220k at Barrett-Jackson’s recent Las Vegas auction.

That large figure isn’t terribly surprising, however, given the fact that this Mustang Eleanor Tribute Edition is essentially a brand new car. It started life as a real 1967 Mustang but was treated to a new Classic Series body shell from R3 Performance Products, while the Eleanor body parts came directly from the company that supplied them for the actual movie car.

Pop the hood, and you won’t find some regular old motor, either. This stunning machine has loads of power on tap thanks to a 408 cubic-inch Blue Oval mill that sends 450 horsepower to the rear wheels via a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, giving it the juice to match its handsome looks. And if that isn’t enough, there’s a nitrous system installed to provide even more power at the touch of a button.

The suspension is all-new and thoroughly modern as well, with an independent front setup, frame connectors, and a four-link rear suspension. Other notable items down below include rack and pinion steering, a 9-inch rear end, 3.73 gears, adjustable coilovers, and Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners.

The black deluxe interior is a work of art as well, but also contains a number of modern amenities. Brushed aluminum trim gives the cabin a more upscale look while the driver holds onto a Lecarra 18-stud wood and aluminum steering wheel and stares at BNMC gauges, all while banging through the gears via a Go-Baby-Go shift knob.

Put it all together, and you’ve got a car that not only looks drop-dead gorgeous, but it’s also one that you can actually drive and enjoy. And that’s precisely the beauty of the Mustang Eleanor Tribute Edition – it’s essentially a brand new car, but no brand new car is going to make you feel like Nicholas Cage every time you slip behind the wheel.
