Picking up where they left off with a new project.

B is for Build achieved infamy recently for their Gone in 60 Seconds “Eleanor” replica built on an S550 Mustang platform. Unfortunately, Denise Halicki, who owns the rights to the “Eleanor” name, invoked her copyright and seized the car before it was completed.

Still, The B is for Build crew learned a lot. For one thing, there’s only about an inch difference in wheelbase between a ’67 Mustang and the S550 donor. The new Mustang is over four inches wider, but that space can be made up with a widebody kit.

Undeterred, B is for Build turned their attention to a new, yet familiar project. As before, they mounted a classic Mustang body on a new donor chassis. This time, it’s a coupe, not a fastback. Additionally, they opted for a “patina” look instead of a deep, glossy finish.

Starting Over

They’ve dubbed the project “Oscar’s Apocalypse Build.” It definitely would not look out of place in a Mad Max film, that’s for sure. The sun-dried paint, beefy flares, and aggressive spoiler and diffusers wouldn’t look out of place on a post-apocalyptic warlord’s ride.

This time around, the donor was a heavily damaged 2016 Mustang GT. With some help from a pickup truck and a tow strap, the front end was more or less straightened out. Thanks to their prior experience, this build seemed to go much quicker than before.

Despite the car’s rough-and-tumble looks, a lot of thought went into this car’s appearance. The fender flares themselves are off-the-shelf items. However, the front spoiler, side skirts, and fender flare extensions were made by hand. The extensions in particular make the car look “complete.”

Apparently, the rear diffuser came from a Subaru BRZ Rocket Bunny body kit, and was adapted to fit this Mustang. It looks like it belongs there. It also does an important job of covering up a piece of emissions equipment that hangs low on the rear of the car.

One of our favorite features is the NASCAR-style spoiler. It’s the perfect finishing touch, and we like the way that the supports tuck in between the “MUSTANG” lettering on the trunk lid. All things considered, we actually like this better than the “Eleanor” build, anyways.
