Do you have $125K burning a hole in your pocket and a desire to stand out from the crowd? Then this 1965 Ford Mustang Restomod is for you.

So, you are thinking you would like a classic convertible Mustang. A nice 1965 model for cruising around town and taking to local shows would be perfect. You begin to scan the usual websites to see what is available. There are a lot of nice options out there in the $40,000 range. Suddenly you come across a car listed for $124,900.

What the heck? That can’t be right, can it? You can get a new GT500 for less than that. Assuming you find a dealer that isn’t gouging you. And while this might not be the most valuable early Mustang in the world, it sure is a lot of coin. So, what gives? Well, this is a 1965 Ford Mustang Restomod that looks and sounds like no other 1965 Mustang you are likely to find.

The car in question is currently being offered for sale by Vanguard Motor Sales. They have a fascinating selection of American muscle car restomods listed for sale. However, even among this company the 1965 Mustang restomod stands out. Not just for its price but for everything that has gone into it.

The car has undergone a multi-year restoration process that included a plethora of customizations and upgrades. The result is a car that will draw a crowd wherever it goes. Whether the crowd will be happy with what they see depends on their perspective on classic Mustangs. For example, the front end has no remaining chrome, and that mesh grille might not be to everyone’s taste.

What will be more to everyone’s taste is what sits in the engine bay. Pop the hood and you will find a Ford 347ci stroker V8 engine with Edelbrock E-Street aluminum cylinder heads. Hedman ceramic coated shorty exhaust headers send exhaust through a dual exhaust system that’s fitted with Flowmaster FlowFX Mufflers.

The result is a car that sounds absolutely incredible. Everyone will love the sound, and everyone will also love the fact that this car retains a manual transmission. Power is sent through a Tremec T5 5-speed with a short-throw shifter. Tough to argue with any of that.

Hop on inside this Mustang restomod and you will find some of that chrome that was missing on the exterior. The chrome bits are highlighted by the candy red interior. And you better like candy red. It covers the seats, carpets, floor mats, glovebox, dashboard, seatbelts and so on. Not matter what you think of the color, the interior itself is immaculate. The seats don’t look like they have ever been sat in.

The for-sale listing includes the video below that provides all the details and allows you to hear what this machine sounds like. It is a wise move on behalf of the dealer because the sound alone might sell the car. But will it sell for close to asking price? This car stands out for sure and has a lot of nice touches. But is it worth nearly $125k? That is a significant investment, but you will have a one of one vehicle. That has to be worth something. Let us know in the Mustang Source forums where you would spend $125K in Mustang money.
