Diode Dynamics XML2 fogs installed

Thanks to Nick C. at Diode Dynamics. Received and installed my new XML2's.

Pros:
- packaged very well
- appears to be a quality piece
- cooling fan integrated to bulb housing
- no ballast, no worrying about mounting extra ballast
- truly a plug and play
- Über Über bright…1420 Lumens!!!
- EDIT: I forgot to mention, these are that bright despite the Dechromed black housing AND I also have gunsmoke Lamin X tint on there! And it STILL shines through. Dang. Can you imagine on a STOCK fog light housing??? - with clear lens and chromed/silver mirror housing? That brightness would be insane!

Cons:
- none I can think of, maybe as tech gets better, smaller packaging?
- not really a con, but bulb life is TBD. Should be 3 years warranty I believe.

What's most impressive is how bright this dang thing is. Even with a DECHROMED/BLACKED OUT fog light housing, the brightness comes through. I can't imagine this on a regular fog light housing. That would be killer. My VLEDs that were on there I "thought" were bright, and you can't even tell they were on, with my new housings… With the XML2's, I can now turn my fogs on at night again since they "work"

Thanks again to Nick @ Diode D. You make my VLED Tritons look like it was from the stone ages.

Nicely packaged.

The integrated cooling fan and lack of ballast.

Side by side. Yes, you make the VLEDs look like ****. LOL

Installed, no lights on.

Halos on.

Halos and XML2's on.

Halos only, far view.

Halos and XML2's on, far view.

Here's a video of them on/off so you can tell the difference in light output.

Very nice upgrade!

I wonder if these would fit/ or be a good option for us California Special guys with the factory halogen bumper fogs?

I'm not sure what the bulb size is on the lower fogs. But I'm sure they're smaller than the main gt fogs. If you go to diode's site, there should be a sizing drop down.
(Or nick can chime in here too )

These would be a good option for the GT/CS. We have a listing for them here on our site: http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/l...leds-pair.html

Thanks a ton Nick! I knew you'd chime in. Love your products sir, love em. I'm impressed with your guys's R&D, and your build quality too! Dang impressive. Those XML2's were beefy, and you can tell, well constructed. The fact that they're WATERPROOF is amazing, both from LED and FANS???

We are very proud of the XML2's lumen output, especially considering the ease of installation

I really wish there was something like this for the led fogs in the newer cars...

Thanks, I left a comment on your YouTube vid. Would these blind oncoming drivers or have the typical floody output glare LED fog bulbs have? I want to retain the cutoff of the factory halogen fog bulbs. Thanks, Nick.

In the GIF above, the total output is much greater, but there's not a lot of light shining way above the stock cutoff line, because the LEDs fire into the sides of the reflector instead of out of the front of the bulb.

This still isn't good enough to use as a headlight bulb, but it does quite well in factory housings because it doesn't put light directly forward, it still relies primarily on the factory reflector.

If you have any questions please feel free to give us a call: (314) 205-3033

We offer free-shipping for U.S. forum members, and you have 30-days with our hassle free return policy

Thanks for the reply, Nick.

Also I forgot to ask about the cool white color. What is the exact color temperature of that? I want them to match the OEM HID's and don't want any bluish tint.

Are these the same color as the XM-L2 LEDs used in tactical flashlights, like a pure bright white?

They are 6500K white in color, a nice bright white, not blue-looking.

They are the same CREE chips, but the XM-L2 is available in a number of colors from CREE. We use the 6500K version in these.

They are a pretty close match your factory HIDs, but if you find them too blue we can send a pre-paid return shipping label for a hassle free exchange

I've tried a bunch of led's in my c/s fogs and these non led are the best so far for driving. Silverstar Ultras.

Hate to break it to you, but those are the same or worse than your factory bulbs. Sylvania just lost a lawsuit over it.

Thanks, I'll dig up my old receipts and get some money back. I been using them since 2007.

LEDs have come a long way since 2007 FWIW. Our new XML2's will provide better results (and appearance) than an aftermarket halogen replacement, and they are just as easy to install.

Plus, it's very low-risk to give them a try with our 30-day money back guarantee

I always hated those silverstars. Looks marginally better then stock, maybe a tad brighter, and a WAY shorter life.
