245/45 vs 265/35 for Winter

I am picking up a set of winter tires. There were two good deals I came across. Both Blizzak LM-60 tires that are basically brand new. Up in the air whether to go for the 245/45/19 or 265/35/19 for my 2014 Track Pack. I know the 245 will be a little better in the snow but can't imagine that much better than the 265. But the 265s would be better when there is no snow and would look better on the car. Any thoughts? I am not looking to turn it into a 4x4. Just wanna be able to drive the car through the winter.

245. You want a narrower tire in the winter. The extra aspect ration will help protect the rim as well. You could probably go narrower still if the options are available.

I am running 275/40 19 Michelin Pilot AS+ on my Track Pack wheels and they do just fine in German snow.

Its not just the snow its the potholes. A 245/45 tire has a 110.25mm sidewall vs 92.75mm for the 265/35. I live in New York. Roads are horrendous*in the winter. The 275/40 you have also has a 110mm sidewall. Would get those but the deal I am getting on the 245s are to good to pass up.

It's your money. Good luck. I have the 3.73's so the taller sidewall tones it down a little to useful levels.

I have 245/40s on my 19x9 Brembos for winter. I live in NY and drive into Queens on a regular basis. Also commute across the Tappan Zee and up the Thruway, which was horribly pockmarked last winter.
