Fake Coyote-Swapped Corvette ZR1

This alleged Coyote-swapped Corvette ZR1 has become the joke that keeps on giving, as people just keep on falling for it.

As most car fans are well aware, the C6 generation Corvette ZR1 is a truly impressive machine. Even if you’re a hardcore GM hater with Blue Oval in your blood, that fact is impossible to ignore, as we’re talking about a car that debuted way back in 2009 with a whopping 638 horsepower – a level reserved for pricey exotics at that time. The so-called “Blue Devil” came straight from the factory packing that kind out output from its supercharged LS9, but for reasons unknown, someone seemingly replaced that powerplant with what has become a controversial piece – this Coyote-swapped Corvette ZR1 – or did they?

This clip from ET Motorsports has been making the rounds lately, showing off what it proclaims is the world’s first Coyote-swapped Corvette ZR1. We’ve seen digital renderings of such a machine in the past, but this video provides us with some real-world footage of such a swap, or, at least, that’s what a ton of folks apparently believe. Turns out, this entire thing is one of the most elaborate and humorous troll jobs we’ve ever come across.

Fake Coyote-Swapped Corvette ZR1

Most folks simply saw the Boss 302 intake atop the powerplant in this supposed Coyote-swapped Corvette ZR1 and immediately assumed that it’s packing a Blue Oval engine rather than the original LS9, but that simply isn’t the case, upon further inspection. It seems as if ET Motorsports slapped that intake on top just to make it seem like they had committed the ultimate atrocity – at least in the minds of GM fans – and it has the majority of folks fooled.

Even though we sort of wished it was real, this fake Coyote-powered Corvette ZR1 certainly has stirred up its fair share of hilarious comments on both Instagram and TikTok, with most saying that it’s “ruined,” “garbage,” and even “slower” than before. Of course, there are also plenty of Ford fans in the comments section pointing out that it’s quite possible such a swap would make the car faster, funny enough.

Dig deep enough, and you’ll find that ET Motorsports admits that the whole thing is just an elaborate joke on multiple occasions, but for whatever reason, the video keeps floating around and conjuring up the same angry reactions. Given the fact that we live in a world where a lot of people don’t look past headlines or dig a little deeper before taking what they see at face value, perhaps that isn’t a surprise. Regardless, we’re certainly getting a kick out of this rather clever and elaborate joke.
