Wicked 2020 Shelby GT500 Produces 1094 RWHP

GT500 is one of the finest track scalpels in the market, but that still didn’t stop Palm Beach Dyno from improving on it.

When Ford first introduced the 2020 Shelby GT500 back in the fall of 2020, the company’s flagship pony car received a lot of fanfare. The Mustang Shelby GT500 is one of the finest track scalpels in the market, but that still did not stop owners from attempting to improve the sports car’s performance.

Boynton Beach-based outfit called Palm Beach Dyno is one of the most popular GT500 tuners in Florida. PBD was one of the first shops in the country that modified the Shelby GT500 when it first came out. As it turns out, the Floridian tuner has something even more exciting in store for us. The company recently uploaded a video featuring a modified Mustang Shelby GT500 on its official YouTube channel.

The car in question produces 1038 horsepower at the rear wheels, and the company’s founder put the GT500 through multiple dyno tests. The shop’s owner Ken Bjonnes explains, “We have Andy Woods CX1100R on the dyno, except one big difference, this car still has stock manifolds. We’re waiting on the Kooks long tube headers, but we wanted to go ahead and get it on the dyno, see what it did with the stock manifold because we’re pulling his transmission to send out his clutch to Dodson.”

Ken also goes on to explain that the idea behind this exercise was to compare the power figures of Andy’s car against his own GT500, which has the same specifications as except that Ken’s car runs on Kooks race setup manifolds. Palm Beach Dyno conducted three pulls starting with a 2.7 pulley, which was followed by a 2.5, and finally a 2.27 pulley.
During the three test runs, the car put out 1038 HP/721 lb-ft, 1046 HP/763 lb-ft, and 1094 HP/818 lb-ft, respectively.

During the final dyno run, Ken pointed out that there was some noticeable clutch slip, which he claims can be fixed by a simple tune. Ken also reveals that with the help of kooks two-inch headers, his car’s powerplant was able to produce almost 47 additional horsepower, which brings total power output to 1141 HP and 840 lb-ft.
