Winter sucks. Unless you live in Southern California, you’ve probably experience some sort of cold and foul weather this weekend. It sucks. To help get away from it all, I flew across the country to Los Angeles to spend a weekend in a 2016 Mustang GT. With 435 horsepower and a manual transmission, we headed up to the canyons for fun and adventure. It sure beats being snowed-in at home!

You can read my full writeup of the Mustang here, but it’s safe to say the new Mustang is the best Mustang yet. The most notable improvement really is the independent rear suspension. There are bumps on the canyon roads that would’ve knocked the previous Mustang out of line, but the new one took everything in stride.

But, when you get a bunch of car guys together with a V8-powered, rear-wheel drive, American-built muscle car, hijinks are sure to ensue. The S550 Mustang is an easy car to get the back end loose on. It’s even easier than the more-powerful Camaro SS I recently was in. Plus, the Mustang sounds great and the electronic nannies have a full off button.

Life, my friends, is good. Except now I’m back in the cold, snowy hell of the midwest. Oh well.
