NASA’s Apollo Program Inspires S550 Mustang One-Off

Inspiration for custom Mustangs that steer from the norm don’t come easy, which is part of the reason why we’ve taken a lot of interest in this latest model produced by Ford. Dubbed the Mustang Apollo Edition, this one-off was built to raise money for the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), specifically for its year-round youth aviation program. But the space-themed s550 was influenced from NASA’s Apollo program, as highlighted in the video below.

The custom Mustang will be auctioned at EAA’s annual Gathering of Eagles fundraiser, being held July 23. After viewing the short but impactful clip, it’s pretty clear that the inspiration for the Apollo Edition goes a lot deeper than a few of the car’s stellar exterior features, like the two-tone black and white paint job with red accents and the “United States” decals on the hood and the front fenders.

Although personally, I’d take the 725-horsepower Fisker Rocket, if given my pick of space-inspired Mustangs.
