The New Saleen Mustang Gets 640 Horsepower
Oh. My. God. The 2015 Mustang Saleen is going to be ridiculous. Yesterday, Saleen showed off a new view of the next Saleen Mustang on the S550 chassis. Most of the automotive world figured we would have to wait at least till L.A. or Detroit to get some real numbers on this beast. We were wrong. And I can’t believe the numbers.
First, there will be three trim levels. White Label, Yellow Label, and Black Label. The White will be the Saleen entry-level model that keeps the engine pretty much stock at 450 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. However, both the Yellow Label and the Black Label come with … wait for it: 640 horsepower. Sweet Jesus! Those horses are backed up by a whopping 565 lb-ft of torque! We are truly living in a new horsepower war and it is wonderful.
There isn’t any talk about how much the cars will individually cost, but seeing as the previous top-tier Saleen cost around $55,000, I’d say anyone looking at the newest Black Label will come in around the $60,000 mark due to the car’s newer systems and parts. That makes it a heck of a deal, especially when you consider this car will go around corners like a scalded rat.
Now begins the long process of having to wait until they actually show one off and let us all have a go in it. Until then, let’s just ponder what we could do with all those 640 rampaging stallions.
