‘The Mustang Source’ Chases Down Exotics in a 2020 Shelby GT500

Behind the wheel of a 760 horsepower Shelby GT500, not even Nissan GT-Rs or Porsche 911 GT3s are safe.

I got an invite from Xtreme Xperience last month to test out Ford’s most powerful production Mustang ever. And let’s just say things got interesting.

Not many people get to take a 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 for a few laps at track, and my experience at Pittsburgh International Race Complex (Pitt Race) was nothing short of exhilarating.

Xtreme Xperience is a traveling arrive and drive track day service where you spend a few hundred bucks and get to drive it on track. None of that parking lot exotic experience stuff. You actually get to get a feel for the cars ability hitting triple digit speeds.

As you can see in the video above, with the case of the Shelby GT500, that means you get to go out on track with a few of the vehicles in their fleet that are the cost a few Shelby GT500s, but the Shelby GT500 can sure do some exotic hunting. Like hunting down a R35 Nissan GT-R and a Porsche 911 GT3.

Now I am going to admit this isn’t the best GT500 video you are going to find on the internet. I am going what I would estimate 7/10ths at max of my ability. You don’t get invited to do things like this by going 10/10ths, bending the metal, and putting it into a wall for those imaginary trophies.

That being said, whatever the other drivers abilities were and even with gaps letting them get out on track I was able to overtake both a Nissan GT-R and a Porsche 911 GT3 within three laps and that definitely counts for something with this 760 horsepower beast.
