We showcase the sideways thrills of three Ford Mustangs currently battling it out for the Formula Drift championship.

The 2019 Formula Drift season kicked off this weekend in Long Beach California. Among the many cars this season, there are three Ford Mustangs competing. There are some big names in the RTR duo of driver and owner Vaughn Gittin Jr. and his teammate Chelsea DeNofa. While lone wolf Justin Pawlak campaigns his own Mustang.

During the Long Beach competition, all three competitors qualified for Top 32. DeNofa qualified highest at 9th, while Gittin Jr. was 11th, and Pawlak qualified 13th.

Top 32 was fair to all three as well, as all beat their competitors to make it into Top 16 battles. Pawlak was the only of the three to make it out of Top 16. DeNofa fell to three time Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg in what was pegged as the “Birthday Battle” as it was both DeNofa’s and Forsberg’s birthday, while Gittin Jr. fell to Forrest Wang.
