Ford’s Chief Mustang Engineer, the man behind the new GT350R, slammed down the gauntlet on Stuttgart’s finest, stating that the new GT350R is better than the new Porsche 911 GT3.

Reportedly, the new Shelby GT350R lapped the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife in just 7:32.19. Holy mackerel, that’s more than five seconds faster than Chevy’s Camaro Z/28.

After wide reports of the demise of the V8, a Ford rep shoots down that rumor while saying that the “V8 still plays an important role in our product lineup.”

This past weekend, Ford auctioned off an all-new Shelby GT350R Mustang, VIN #001, to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

We have reason to be hopeful that the carbon wheels we saw on the new GT350R will be trickling down to other production vehicles in the near future.

The ordering guide for the the new GT350 and the GT350R Shelby Mustangs leaked online, and it tells a pretty darn good story.

It’s amazing that a car like this can be released to the general public. The Shelby GT350R is the driver’s car, much like the SVT Cobra R was when it was released. There is no radio, no A/C, no rear seats — anything that didn’t make the car faster has been jettisoned.
