Son Smacks Dad's GT350R Into the Garage Wall

We’d have been grounded for life for pulling a stunt like this in our dad’s GT350R.

Somewhere in America, a young man is learning two very difficult lessons, simultaneously: Always ask for permission before you play with Dad’s toy, and when starting a car with a manual transmission, remember to depress the clutch pedal.

The Drive recently shared a short clip that was uploaded to Facebook. Apparently, some kid wanted to show off for his friends by starting up his father’s Mustang GT350R. Either due to ignorance or pure youthful exuberance, he forgot to depress the clutch. You can guess where this is going.

The GT350R roars to life, the exhaust note of its flat-plane Voodoo engine echoing throughout the steel garage. At the same time, it lurches forward, bumping into the wall of the garage with a resounding “bang.” The noise of both the car and the impact reverberate through the high-ceiling garage like a choir in a cathedral before going silent just as quickly.

It was at that moment that he knew he’d messed up. He shuts the car down and throws open the door, screaming “I’m dead, I’m dead, I’m dead, I’m f**king dead!” It’s the high pitched, mournful, anguished cry of a teenager that knows that he’s grounded until graduation.

There is a small part of us that actually feels bad for the kid. We’re sure that he meant no harm to his dad’s car — or the wall of his garage, for that matter. Unfortunately, he’s learned a tough lesson about asking permission before using someone else’s things.

The damage to the grey GT350R is probably minimal, and can be repaired. Meanwhile, the damage to the garage wall will likely remain as a reminder of his mistake and the lessons he will come to learn as a result.

The damage to this kid’s social life, though, is probably just beginning. In addition to having his worst moment captured on camera and sent around to all of his friends, he probably won’t be spending time outside of his room or the classroom for a very long time.
