Interesting. I wonder, how are sales for retail orders factored in? Are they tallied when I place my order or when I receive my car? Regardless, these aren't bad figures for the 2010 considering that world + dog knows about the better engines for 2011.
It's not sold until you receive and pay for it. Given this and the number of "pre-orders" Ford claimed to have, the sales numbers should skyrocket for a month or two.
GM should try to squeeze out any sales they can because its about to get ugly, and quick
They mentioned the 1st month pre-orders (11k I think it was stated back in early March), but Ford never posted numbers for the rest pre-order numbers. Did the 2011 Mustang beat the 2010 Camaro's 14k pre-orders or not ??

So what would be a good guess for total sales of the new 2011 Mustang? How many 2010's did they sell? Compare it to 2005 or 2006 before the other bloated ponies showed up.
Found this link with some numbers.

Why does gen 3 overlap gen 4?
Thought this was interesting. With Ford having a big percentage increase (again), so did Chrysler (and Dodge cars [Chally, Charger, others? Charger police fleet?]), whereas GM barely eeked out an increase:
GM ekes out gain, Chrysler on the mend
General Motors Co. reported a 6.4% increase in from a year ago when bankruptcy was on the horizon. The auto maker's core brands made up for the void created by the winding down or shedding of the Hummer, Saab, Saturn and Pontiac brands.
Detroit-based GM said it sold 183,997 cars and trucks last month, up from 173,007 a year ago, topping analysts' targets as newly launched products accounted for one of every four vehicles sold.
Dead or dying brands aside, sales of the Buick, Cadillac, Chevy and GMC nameplates rose 19.7%. Buick sales jumped 36.4% while Cadillac increased 35.7%.
Even Chrysler, managed by Fiat SPA, reported a big improvement. April U.S. sales rose 25% to 95,703 vehicles. Chrysler brand sales for the month rose 61% to 22,386 vehicles, Jeep was mostly flat at 19,645 units and Dodge rose 24% to 53,672 vehicles.
Car sales rose 96% and total truck sales increased 7% in April.
[where's that truck of the year spike?
