I Have my First Parts Verification of the 08 Bullit. It will be Produced as of Dec. 3rd 07 as an 08 Model.

1st Part Listing a Specific Bullit Grille. Currently it is indicating the standard GT Fascia At this Time.

More Specific Parts as I find Them!

Very Nice. I hope it has the chrome surround ring and is completely blank.

Whew! Dec'07 will work out much better for me than spring '07.

By 12/3/07, does that mean Job1 or something else?

I bet this bullitt grill is the one on the white SEMA stang. No fogs, no pony, nothing.

God I hope not, that front end couldn't be more dull looking.

If it's the grille on the SEMA car, I just hope we don't have to wait until December '07 for it to be available. The Ford rep at SEMA claims it will be for sale next summer. We'll see.

Dec 07 is when it will be used in the Bullit. I already have a Part Number for the Grille. Although no Pricing or Release ETA as of Date.

Well, the Bullitt in the Steve McQueen movie was very stripped down to just the basics -- very clean, very spare, showing off the basic good lines of the Stang quite well. If you're looking for a tarted-up Stang, then perhaps the Bullitt's not your cup of tea (future Mach I perhaps?)

I don't want "tarted up." I want something simple, but more unique. If that grille is going to be combined with a stock GT fascia - with no modifications to structure or shape - I think it will look 'plain', and I mean plain in the way that the V6 Stang looks plain (no offense to V6 owners).

You're kidding, right? Have you seen my signature and avatar?? Heck, almost half my posts have been about trying to get someone to make this grille. I even tried to make one myself!

Or as plain as the original Bullitt I guess, which went from this:

to this:

Basically, standard GT390 with a great deal of the trim and flash stripped off or painted body color, nothing new added -- either a very clean minimilist approach or simply plain and boring, depending upon one's styling predilictions.

Perhaps that's just what made the Bullitt so unique was that it eschewed the typical reflex approach of adding stuff to create a unique style, say like a Shelby (especially later ones), Mach I, or Eleanor, and instead, stripped down the car to its basics along with a great color that emphasized it's excellent underlying forms and lines to great effect.

Kind of reminds me of pictures of Steve McQueen himself in a simple black turtleneck and tweed jacket -- very simple, handsome and timeless. Must work as both McQueen and the Bullitt have become classic, timeless icons. In this era of ever more and bigger scoop, duct, spoiler, stripe, flash and blinding bling, it's a very refreshing, unique and distinctive stylistic approach I hope Ford follows.

Make no mistake, the lines of the original car are, IMHO, more graceful and detailed overall than the current Stang. As such, the "stripped down" look on the original GT390 looked simple, yet purposeful.

That approach doesn't automatically work on the current car. It might be fine to use that grille treatment on a new Bullitt, but SOMETHING else needs to be done to distinguish the car. Whether its cantered headlight buckets (like the GT500) or a slightly more intricate lower fascia - a new Bullitt needs more than just a V6 front end.
