Grabber Lime 2020 Shelby GT500

Ultimate Shelby GT500 comes with a hefty price tag capable of reaching a whopping $107K with the right boxes ticked off.

For what seems like forever, we’ve been waiting for the most powerful Mustang ever conceived to finally be available for customizing and purchasing (and then more customizing with help from the aftermarket). The 2020 Shelby GT500, its supercharged 5.2-liter cross plane crank V8, and all of the goodies available to make it a track-day terror, all were waiting for the right moment to finally strike upon our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls.

And now, the wait is drawing quickly to a close. The configurator for the most insane Mustang ever conceived is now live.

The base price for the Shelby GT500 is $72,900, which doesn’t include destination charges, or things like taxes and absurd dealer markups. Check the right boxes, though — as we’ve done here — and you’ll have a six-figure dominator, which might be a bridge too far for a few Shelby fans.

Said boxes include one for Twister Orange paint ($495), a black painted roof ($695), a painted stripe ($10,000), and the Carbon Fiber Track Pack ($18,500). Add some technology and a vehicle cover, and you’ll be fully kitted out for Lincoln Navigator Black Label L money.

Paint and stripes aside, the track and technology packages have plenty to offer for your Shelby GT500 should you want them, including a set of 20-inch exposed carbon fiber wheels, carbon fiber rear wing and front splitter, driver’s safety tech, heated mirrors, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system for when you want to kick out the jams when you tire of the howling supercharger in front of you.

Of course, the base Shelby GT500 is no slouch, either, as the supercharged V8 still guarantees you’ll have a behemoth capable of destroying Hellcats and ZL1s on the quarter-mile, all for a (relatively speaking) reasonable price compared to those who will go all out (before the aforementioned insane dealer markups, of course). Plus, you’ll still have room for the kids, as the Carbon Fiber Track Pack deletes the rear bench for added lightness. What a time to be alive.
