Saleen Gives Police Officers in California Modified Mustang
The Seal Beach Police Department in Seal Beach, Calif. will be getting one of the tuning company’s heavily-modified S302 Mustangs.
Ford Performance has been on a tear with its high-performance Mustangs recently, and we’re obviously giddy with excitement to see the 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 in the near future. But for consumers that can’t wait, Saleen has a few answers with its modified Mustangs that sit on the pony car’s S550 chassis. The tuning company recently took to Instagram to reveal that the lucky individuals at the Seal Beach Police Department in Seal Beach, Calif. will be getting a special, police version of its Saleen 302 Mustang.
The Instagram post doesn’t provide a lot of information, besides stating that the interceptors will be on the road shortly. “Seal Beach PDs new interceptor,” states the post. “Coming soon to a rear view mirror near you.”
The brave men and women of the Seal Beach Police Department will surely have some fun in the hopped-up Mustang. There’s no information on what level of performance the Mustang will have, but we have a sneaking suspicion that it’s the most powerful one from Saleen.

Last year, the Riverside Police Department in Riverside, Calif. received a special-edition 730-horsepower Saleen S302 Black Label Mustang. That vehicle looks identical to the one the Seal Beach Police Department will be receiving shortly.
As a recap, a stock 2015 Mustang GT comes with a 5.0-liter V8 engine that churns out 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Saleen takes the stock vehicle, slaps a supercharger onto the engine, fits the motor with larger fuel injectors, tunes the engine for performance, and, among a bunch of other things, cranks output up to 730 hp. Torque is rated at 600 pound-feet.
The S302 Black Label Mustang also comes with a bunch of bespoke exterior parts. Note the high-downforce rear spoiler and rear diffuser, special wheels, and a bulging hood, which the police interceptor retains. But the special edition also gets some police-oriented goodies to ensure that it’s ready for duty.
Speeders be warned, this is currently one of the fastest and most powerful Mustangs on the road. There’s a slim chance that you’ll get away if you try to outrun it.
