YouTuber Builds 850-HP Roush Mustang in a Parking Lot

The 2016 Roush Mustang is already monstrous off the line, but these mods may offer even more bragging rights.

When you think of a 850-horsepower car, you are probably picturing a car in a full garage, with a team of mechanics working on it.  Most of us aren’t picturing one guy working in a parking lot, but that’s exactly what YouTuber itsjusta6 managed to pull off—or so he claims.

Let’s take a look at his gorgeous Mustang build to see if it really lives up to all the hype.

Roush Supercharged 2016 Mustang

The 2016 Mustang with a Roush supercharger is a pretty beastly car to begin with. The 5.0-liter Roush-tuned engine puts out 670 hp right off the lot, aided by a 2.3-liter TVS supercharger. It’s only got 37 less hp than the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, and handles like a dream on the road. The Hellcat can feel like you’re trying to drive a small whale.

His goal with this beautiful car is to tune the engine to reach a whopping 1,000 horsepower. What has he done with it so far?

Complete Build

First he equipped the engine with a smaller crank pulley – replacing the stock powdered steel with new billet steel pullies – new Corsa headers and a new Corsa exhaust, as well as replacing the spark plugs and fuel injectors. That pulley upgrade was necessary because the stock pulleys tend to fail at higher horsepower – even the stock 670 horsepower causes the powdered steel to fail.

The real star of the show is the Lund Racing tuner that was installed as well.  itsjusta6 is working with Lund Racing – after installing the basic tune, he emails the specs back to Lund to have them adjust the tune to get the most out of the car.

He’s got videos up for each upgrade: the pulleys, the headers and exhaust, and finally the injectors and the spark plugs.

It hasn’t been all sunshine and roses though. The axles broke after just one month of driving. A high RPM launch on the track caused the axles to snap. Thankfully, it was a quick and easy fix but it’s never a good thing when your car will start but not drive.

We’re waiting for dyno footage to see how much horsepower this car is actually putting out. There are some naysayers who think that itsjusta6 might not post any footage if the car is beneath the 900 horsepower that he claimed in his video title, but we’ll just have to wait and see when he finally posts.

This is a fantastic build and a great way to pull even more power out of an already powerful stock car. It just goes to show that you can build just about anything, anywhere. As long as you’ve got the right tools and plenty of patience. Now, take a look at the finished product.
