If you’ve got a 1987 to 1989 Mustang, you can now order an exact replica of your car’s original window sticker for just $60.

Some have professionally-produced signs. Some have diecast models. The ultimate car show parlor trick, tough, is to have your original window sticker on display with your Mustang.

Most dealers ditch the window sticker (also known as the Monroney sticker) as part of new car prep. In other cases, the owners either ditch them, or save them as mementos when they sell the car.

Having a car with its original window sticker is a big deal to a lot of collectors. Don’t believe us? Check out this ’89 LX 5.0 hatchback that sold for over $70,000 a few years back.

Now, Ford is reprinting original window stickers for 1987 through 1989 Mustangs. According to Autoblog, Ford has been reprinting window stickers for vehicles model year 2007 and newer.

That’s likely a program put in place to help dealerships with late model used car inventory. This new program marks the first time that Ford has made this service available to classic car owners.

How it Works

For about $60, Ford will reprint your Mustang’s window sticker as an exact replica of the original. That’s over twice the cost for newer cars (which is only $25), but it’s well worth it. Oh yeah, add another $10 for shipping, too.

The layout, font, and even the paper stock will be identical to the original window sticker that came on your ’87, ’88, or ’89 Mustang. Simply point your browser to Ford Show Parts, plug in your VIN, and wait.

After a four- to six-week long wait, your new window sticker will arrive, identical to the long lost original. According to CNET Roadshow, the leg work on options and details is carried out by none other than Marti Auto Works.

Fans of old-school, high-dollar Mustangs know the name well. Having a Marti Report for your classic Mustang is like having a birth certificate, but better. A Marti Report will detail every detail about your car, from the exact day on which it was produced, to how many twins (same color and options) your car has.

Knowing that, it’s a safe bet to assume that this window sticker program will likely expand in the coming months. We want them to keep up the good work, so if you’ve got a 1987 to 1989 Mustang — and no window sticker — show them some love!
