1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500E

At roughly $190,000, this ’67  Shelby GT500E is much cheaper than the real Eleanor Mustang, but looks nearly identical, except for one major thing.

The 1967 Ford Mustang Eleanor is one of the most sought after vehicles in the world thanks to the movie Gone in 60 Seconds. Every enthusiast has seen the movie and Mustang fanatics have probably seen the film multiple times. The classic Mustang has been recreated by various aftermarket companies, as the original one from the actual movie sold for $1,000,000 back in 2013 during Dana Mecum’s 26th original Spring Classic.

With that kind of price tag, getting into the original Mustang Eleanor is impossible for the majority of enthusiasts. But for the few out there that are wealthy enough to spend upwards of $200K on a car, there’s another option and it comes from RK Motor Charlotte.

The dealership, which is located in Charlotte, N.C., has a ’67 Mustang Shelby GT500E for sale for just $189,900. While that’s a boatload of money, it’s a lot less than the real deal for something that looks similar, except for the fact the coupe’s roof has been chopped off. The GT500E that’s for sale, according to the listing, is one of just 120 GT500Es ever made and is believed to be one of only 15 GT500E convertibles in existence.

It was built by Unique Performance, a Shelby authorized shop out of Dallas that was taxed with producing 400 GT500Es, but eventually went out of business after making just 120 units back in 2007. This GT500E Convertible features a 410-cubic-inch Windsor V8 engine that’s paired to a Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual gearbox. The car’s suspension has also been upgraded to modern standards thanks to coil-over front suspension and a custom rear suspension setup. Other modern components include: drilled and slotted brake rotors, a 2.5-inch exhaust system, BF Goodrich g-Force T/A tires, a power rack-and-pinion steering system, and more.

The interior of the replica has also been updated with Shelby-branded buck seats, a modern A/C unit, a Sony audio system, and a massive roll bar. Oh yeah, there’s also a tank of nitrous in the back, because why not?

With an Eleanor-styled body kit, modern amenities, and a powerful V8 under the hood, this is one badass replica. And while the fact that it’s a convertible may turn some enthusiasts off, the new owner will get to enjoy warm weather to the fullest. For enthusiasts that want to get more information on the car, check out the video above from RK Motors Charlotte.
