New Doc Takes Inside Look at Automaker Bailouts
Now in select theaters is a new documentary covering the 2008 Big Three crisis and the subsequent government bailouts of General Motors and Chrysler. The documentary, entitled Live Another Day, promises to pick up where The Big Short left off last year. While this is a true documentary and The Big Short was a dramatized portrayal of the housing crisis, the parallels appear to be real. As you can see in the short clip below, Live Another Day takes you behind the scenes of the Big Three meltdown and the recession of the late aughts by breaking down into layman’s terms what caused the problem, who was responsible, and how the fallout of the whole ordeal continues to pan out.
If you have a theater local to you, it might be worth your time to check out a showing of this, if only to remember how Ford offloaded their stake in Volvo, Jaguar, and Land Rover at the right time to be able to focus on building quality products and avoid taking federal bailout money in the first place. This sounds like an entertaining and informative couple of hours. So what do you say, pass the popcorn?
