NASCAR Champ Dan Gurney to be Honored Sept. 1 in Colorado

Shelby American Collection Party & Car Show also includes drawing for a rare 2017 Shelby GT350R.

Since 1996, Shelby American Collection has hosted the annual Party and Car Show, which celebrates Shelby heritage and culture in America. This year is it’s 22nd anniversary and will take place Sept. 1 at the museum in Boulder, Colorado.

The 2018 Shelby American Collection Party and Car Show will be held in remembrance of Dan Gurney (pictured above), renowned race driver who won Formula One, Indy Car, NASCAR, Can-Am, and Trans-Am in his time. He passed away in January 2018.

The non-profit Shelby American Collection is committed to preserving the legacy and achievements of both Carroll Shelby and the Shelby American Team. The museum has a large collection of Shelby Cobras, Shelby Mustangs, and Ford GT40 cars, as well as historical records, iconic photos, and other amazing memorabilia.

Tickets to the Shelby American Collection Party and Car Show grants you admission to the museum as well as a “1963 Cobras at Riverside Shelby American Collection” poster. There will also be live music, food and drinks. The highlight of the evening is sure to be when the Shelby American Collection announces the winner of a 2017 Shelby GT350R, one of the rarest S550 Mustangs around (pictured above).

The drawing will take place at 6 p.m. during the Party and Car Show, which will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Proceeds go towards the museum and help keep the organization running. Get tickets and more details on how you can enter the Shelby GT350R giveaway here.)

This year also highlights the 50th anniversary of the Ford GT Mark IV. The one pictured above is a 1967 Ford GT40 MK IV J-7, also known as “The Andretti Car.”
