As if there wasn’t already enough pressure on Ford rolling into the 50th anniversary of the Mustang next year introducing a new model, August sales numbers show that the Chevrolet Camaro continues to outpace Ford’s pony car raising the stakes even more.

While the Camaro actually slowed its sales pace this year in comparison to the first eight months of 2012, August was the best month this year for Mustang’s chief rival. Sales went up by 32.96 percent in comparison to the same time last year, according to a  GM Authority.com report.

GM sold 8,875 Camaros, over 3,000 more units than Ford’s 5,866 Mustangs for the month of August.

Whoa!

The GM news report also indicates that the Camaro currently tops the Mustang in annual sales with 59,156 units sold compared to 54,745 units.

How’s that for pressure?
