Mustang Rated Among Highest in Value Retention

Yet another positive performance attribute that can be applied to the Mustang is value. According to NADA’s new Perspective Report, the S197 Mustang scores the highest value retention in the non-luxury sports cars segment. With an industry average of 51.2% of price retained, the 2013 model sails well clear of that at 60.7% residual. Comparatively, the Camaro, while also above industry average, retains 52.4% of its value. Though the Dodge Challenger is quite close to the Mustang at 60.1%. Which car performed the worst? That goes to the Nissan 370Z retaining only 47.4% of value.

The Perspective Report is a guide from the National Auto Dealers Association, which forecasts pre-owned car values. Dealers love high-retention cars like the Mustang for the market demand, and owners also like the retention as it keeps equity in a transaction. Not only did the Mustang beat out everything else in the non-luxury sports car segment, it came in 4th overall for all segments, beating even the mighty Porsche 911. That’s good news for anyone interested in trading in their S197 for a new S550. Looks like it’s time for a visit to the local Ford dealer.
