Mustang Owner Shares Tips to Break Record at Texas Mile

Mustang Texas Mile

Pulling off a record breaking run of 212.9 mph in the Texas Mile isn’t the sort of thing you take for granted. That’s why this Mustang has been garnering so much attention since it cracked that coveted mark back in March 2015.

The record breaking S-197, which is owned by Greg Turner, began its winning ways as an average 5.O that Turner purchased to replace a ’95 Cobra. The craving for more power came almost immediately for Turner, who quickly added a 2.8L Kenne Bell twin-screw supercharger that boosted the output to 750 horsepower, as highlighted in a Mustang 360 report.

Turner’s lust for power later drove him to do even more engine upgrades, like 2-inch headers. He also added some exterior modifications, like the aluminum work on the nose.

The output now caps out at around 1,252 horses, which has been verified on dyno pulls by Kenne Bell.

You can find more specific details on the build in the video below, which captures the 2015 record-breaking run.
