Mustang Most Searched Car in Canada

The new Mustang topped the list as the most Googled car in Canada in 2015, giving the car yet another big win in the world of automobiles.

Among all vehicles, Canadians searched Google for the new Mustang more than any other car last year. The best-selling vehicle in Canada, however, was the Honda Civic, with more than 61,000 units sold through November, according to a recent report from The Globe and Mail. By comparison, only 6,500 new Mustangs were sold in Canada in 2015.

So why did Canadians have such an interest in the car online you ask? Well, it’s simple. Much like here in the U.S., the Mustang still outranks most vehicles when it comes to popularity, which doesn’t always necessarily convert into actual sales.

“There are two ways to become the top-searched car in Canada,” says Deepak Anand, head of industry, auto, for Google Canada. “One is you sell a lot of the vehicle. Search is a great indicator of interest in the market. The second is from an aspirational aspect, cars you love.”
